Dana’s broken down doing the dishes into easy to follow compartments for us never-having-clear-counters-for-very-long-brigade to follow. We’ve progressed from a tornado like action of cleaning all the dishes – yes, even those dodgy looking glasses from the bedside table – to putting away the clean dishes on Day 4 and progressing to filing the dishwasher as and when dishes become used on Days 5 and 6
My initial reaction to being given even a little list of jobs to do is to whine “but I don’t want toooooo”. Then I realise that I’m all grownup now and have to just damn well go ahead and do as I’m told….
The ease in which I used the kitchen over the weekend was awesome. I cooked brownies with the kids (imagine flour and sugar liberally sprinkled on the counters and children alike), ran the dishwasher then cooked and ate dinner, ran the dishwasher and in the morning, in the morning I made waffles without having to make space on the counter! I had the constant thought running in the back of mind of – do the dishes- do the dishes – do the dishes – do the dishes – which did make me a bit short with anyone using said dishes. How dare they want to eat/drink?!
However I know there’s a big difference between doing the dishes when I’m home to when I’m working. And this morning? Well this morning all the dishes made it to the kitchen with working-from-home-today hubby promising to empty and fill the dishwasher..
Ad he did *insert big grin*
